Donate a bed LPP

Lu Parker Project

On Sunday & Monday, the Lu Parker Project’sDonate A Bed” campaign was hard at work spreading the word and collecting donations to provide beds for shelter dogs in Culver City and Santa Monica.

For $65, supporters could donate a dog bed and receive a free bouquet of flowers with a card, that was generously donated to the campaign for Valentine’s Day.

If this sounds familiar, you may recall that last year, I blogged about participating with Team LPP for the Inaugural Rock N’ Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon in my first half marathon and how I got to spend the day gardening and cleaning the South LA Shelter for Project Beautify.

This past weekend, I volunteered to work at Sporteve in Culver City with Sarah and Tracy Grooters, the creators of LPP’s newest campaign.

For two hours, we worked together to get the word out about the Valentine’s Day campaign by passing out fliers, candy and dog biscuits to passers-by. Our goal was to raise enough money to donate 140 Kuranda beds to shelter dogs.

But after a lot of promotion and press, the Lu Parker Project raised enough money to buy enough beds for three shelters including the South LA Shelter and the Annex.

Lu and the Grooter sisters are ecstatic at the results and are preparing for the next phase of their campaign: Putting the beds together and giving them to the dogs.
